NATIONAL PET WEEK MAY 3 TO 9 , 2009

Next week is National Pet Week, founded by the American Veterinary Medical Association in 1981 to promote responsible pet ownership and celebrate the bond between pets and owners.

Many vet clinics and pet stores are holding events, check out the schedules in your town.

Our pets are like our children. We want them safe, happy and healthy. Here are some great safety tips from Petsmart on how to keep your pet safe and healthy this summer:

Summer Safety Tips For Your Dog:

The best way to keep a dog's coat healthy and provide protection from the sun is to have him or her groomed regularly. In between visits to the groomer, the right grooming tool can dramatically reduce shedding by removing the undercoat and loose hair without sacrificing healthy top coat.

Apply Sunscreen:

Just like humans, dogs can experience sunburn, and even skin cancer, too. To prevent sunburn, apply a sunscreen where hair is thin and skin lacks pigment (nose, ears and sensitive areas) every day your dog is outside.

Have water with you:

Dehydration and heatstroke can be fatal to pets, so access to clean drinking water is critical in the summertime. Products like an outdoor pet fountain provide a stream of fresh, clean water.

While on the go, be sure to bring water for your pet in a suitable drinking container.

Protect Dog's paws:

Dogs' pads may seem tough, but sidewalks, pavement and sand can get so hot in the summer time that dogs' feet can burn and blister. To prevent this, schedule walks for the morning or evening, when sidewalks are cooler or purchase protective boots designed just for dogs.

Grassy areas to play on:

A grassy area in your yard is an ideal spot for pets to cool off because grass releases moisture and keeps your pet cooler than concrete, dirt or gravel. For added comfort, pets can lounge on a raised bed that increases the flow of cooler air underneath the bed mat to help your pet beat the heat.

Use Lifejackets:

Even if you consider your dog a good swimmer, a life jacket is very important if you take him with you on the boat or trips to the beach.

BUY GOLD - NOW!

gold bars small.jpgAccording to this Forbes.com  newsletter I just received, we should be investing in GOLD, big time.

Here is what they have to say:

"First - Buy Gold!

Gold is a currency.  Gold is real money, but it's unique from all the other currencies.  All currencies, with the exception of gold, are fiat currencies.  They are synthetic.  Over time, they all fall, but at different rates.  This can give you an illusion of strength when one currency is not falling as fast as the rest.  Gold has held its value and has proven its merit during the panic liquidation we saw in 2008.  Yes, gold sold off.  As the debt markets imploded, investors and money managers were forced to sell anything and everything, regardless of value, to raise cash in order to pay off loans.   Gold was not exempt and that presents you with a major buying opportunity"

"Everyone needs to own some gold, and you need to consider gold in your portfolio now.  Our report "Gold Expectations" will give you the tools to assist you in finding the best gold buys.  The report further details just why the Obama victory and debt deleveraging has created a rare entry point into the gold market and just how you can exploit it.

With the fundamentals and technical aspects as bullishly aligned as they are presently, buying gold at $900/oz. is as close to a slam dunk as you will ever find in the markets.  Buying gold while egregious monetary and fiscal programs are being instituted is almost like buying fire insurance after your house burns down.  There is still some time, but no one knows how much.  The bargains will not last forever.  Once gold breaks to new highs and you begin seeing $50 to $100 daily up moves, it will be too late.  If you do nothing more than pick up a few shares of Goldcorp (GG-NYSE) under $28.00, you should fare well by this time next year."

Time to call the broker.

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT "LOVE MOM" - GREAT BOOK

Love Mom is a hilarious book which started off as a blog  by Doree Shafrir and Jessica Grose based on texts from an opinionated moms to their adult children.

Here are some descriptions and reviews:

" Sweet, funny, endearing, slightly technologically inept, and always just a little nagging, emails from mothers to their adult children are much more fun to read when it's somebody else's mother. PostcardsFromYoMomma.com is proof of that--when it launched, this repository of reader-submitted missives from Mom received more than 100,000 unique visitors in just the first two weeks. In Love, Mom, editors Doree Shafrir and Jessica Grose have assembled more than two hundred of the best never-before-seen submissions.

Love, Mom is a hilarious look at what happens when interfering, maddening, kvetching, querying, and loving moms push the `send' button. This is a great book for anyone who ever looked at her email inbox and said, `Oh, no--it's from my mom.'
-Amy Dickinson, author of The Mighty Queens of Freeville, "Ask Amy" syndicated advice columnist, and NPR contributor

This book is hilarious and smart--a wittily organized collection that proves, without a doubt, that our moms are humankind's most natural comedians.
-Mike Albo, author of Hornito and The Underminer"
From description on Amazon.

Buy the book for $17.47 at Chapters/Indigo.

ONLINE AUCTIONS - AFFORDABLE CELEBRITY MEMORABILIA

Always wondered where you can find that one of a kind signed poster of your favorite movie, or a hand penned manuscript or even a piece of iconic clothing worn by your favorite moviestar? Look no further than online auctions. LiveAuctioneers is one site that brings you news on auctions from 750 auction houses. One upcoming auction called Rock'N'Roll Art & Soul  which starts next Thursday April 28,2009  presented by The Fame Bureau , brings together signed photos of Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart and even a signed picture by Al Pacino from the movie Scarface.

paul maccartney signed guitar.jpg

But most definitely the piece de resistance or in this case the "pieces" are the clothing and personal items worn or used by various superstars for their concert performances, music videos and award acceptances.

Those include James Brown's white cape, Elton John's flamboyant costumes and Madonna's pink Material Girl dress. Elvis Presley's guitar and Paul McCartney's signed guitar and many more items..

This site not only lets you know about which auctions are coming up, but also which items have been sold for what price. This is very important to gage the market value of different items.

Needless to say, ( particularly to any of Ebay devotees out there) Auctions are a potential goldmine for the savvy buyer, investor and collector. The key to auctions is not too get too excited or emotional and overbid on an item. This is where having the database comes in handy, as well as spending time doing your research online and offline.

For example, let's say you want to start collecting antique dolls. First and Foremost, find and visit with a antique dealer who speciliazes in this product and invest the time to learn about the different dolls, what's considered valuable, what's considered less so. Are there manufacturers, materials, colors and so on that are more valuable than others? After you have had your classroom study, get on the internet or go to the library and again read up on the subject you are interested in.

Like in anything, education goes a long way here!

FASHION EXCESS - ROBERTO CAVALLI'S DESIGNER DOG DUDS

roberto cavalli dog.jpgRoberto Cavalli has unveiled his new clothing collection for dogs.

Hmm, does anyone really believe that you are going to love your dog more and/or that he or she cares that they will be wearing :" tutus, sweaters, velvet jackets, printed shirts, silk shorts, suits and more"?

In this economic climate, I think this feels like a fashion excess , but hey what ever floats your boat!

If pooch( or the owner), just gotta have it, this canine collection is exclusively sold at Cavalli boutiques.

HAPPY EARTH DAY - FASHION AND ENVIRONMENT

I have to say I am very impressed by the design industry to picking up the cause of saving the environment. From dedicated recycling campaigns to using organic products and fabrics, designers big and small are practicing what they preach. In the next few weeks I will do a series on eco-chic. Who is doing what and how it is helping save our planet.

In the meantime here is the Louis Vuitton EARTH DAY initiative.

Louis Vuitton will be donating 15 percent of all sales from its U.S. Web site that day to The Climate Project, the non-profit organization founded by Al Gore.

The one-day initiative continues the leather goods house's commitment to the environment and the organization -- it first partnered with The Climate Project in 2007, when it started making donations on behalf of some of the personalities in Vuitton's Core Values advertising campaign.

The campaign has featured the likes of Catherine Deneuve, Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi, Sean Connery, Keith Richards and Francis Ford and Sofia Coppola.

CELEBRITY NEWS - DAVID BECKHAM AS TERMINATOR

Parting with his usually friendly image, Beckham is the new face for Motorola Aura smartphone, set to retail at $2,000.00

Beckham was made to look like Terminator  from the first movie for the campaign.

As well as Motorola, Beckham is also the face of Adidas, Giorgio Armani and Sharpie pens.

He of course is also co-staring in the Armani Underwear ad campaign with his wife Victoria.

Wow, can this couple milk the ad/sponsorship world or what? I guess as the saying goes, "if you got it flaunt it".

KATE MOSS-CELEBRITY FASHION DESIGNER PROFILE

Thanks so much to Janet K from Windsor, Ontario for writing in about Kate Moss and her designs for Topshop.

I definitely agree here, this model turned designer is more than meets the eye ( yes, pun intended). I checked out the topshop site and found many adorable pieces.

www.katemosstopshop.com/

I loved : Keyhole Bodycon dress for $110.00, Draped vest for $40.00, the Embroidered Fringe jacket for $250.00 and the Liberty Poppy Bandeau dress for $135.00

MICHAEL KORS -FASHION DESIGNER PROFILE

Well known for his woman's shoes and bags collections, this versatile designer is the epitome of the American sportswear style.

The branded stores which have opened in many upscale malls across North America since 2005 also really help to promote the brand and bring the clean lines and the versatility of the collections first and forefront to the public.

Personally, I love how the price ranges make it affordable to get the LOOK  . In the store recently I saw  a gorgeous embossed python gladiator pump which retails for apx.$160.00,displayed near the $3,000.00 real python bag, both had almost the identical coloring of the "skin". Very smart, because it bring the dream a little bit closer and lets us have the look for less.

It also allows the shopper to start building a collection of his pieces one at a time.

As the look is very classic, you can easily add pieces to the collection without having to start off with a whole new look each season.

We have his collection at our high fashion merchant YOOX  and an additional 4% Cashback is available to members.

SOUTH FLORIDA LOOK

Since they are wearing here what Northeners will be wearing in a few months, it's worthwhile to note what's IN.

1. SNAKE, PYTHON,CROC

Are everywhere on accessories: shoes, purses, belts

Invest in one "skin" item for the summer season.

If you are buying to update your look, go for snake gladiator flats or heels ( good quality real leather, but imitation snake is the most affordable and looks great) and a clutch.

If you are buying for long term and are willing to make the investment, go for a good quality snake or python hobo bag. Michael Kors is having a sale right now, and is worth the investment cause you are buying quality and something for long term wear.

2.DRESSES

Sleek, fitted sheath style dresses to the knee or just below are everywhere. Prints are the freshest, most updated look for the season. One has to be careful not to overdo it. Wrong or too big prints can visually add weight. Personally I prefer solids and to bring in some color with a scarf and a belt.

2. SUMMER BOOTS

Suede boots with peep toe cutouts are the best and look great with shorts or mini skirts.

Designers have shown lots of high heeled styles with cutouts and buckles and straps. Christian Laboutin showed this look in a few styles.

Not sure if this look will last, a bit too trendy and might look a bit "trying" for anyone over 35..

If you could find something inexpensive just to have something "cool" for the summer, go for it!

COLOR:

Lots of yummy sherbert colors. Yellow is particularly strong, blue and hot pink were also big ( bringing back that 80's influence)

SHOPPING REVIEW - SOUTH FLORIDA - MIAMI, SOUTH BEACH, PALM BEACH, BOCA RATON

Palm Beach - Worth Avenue                      www.worth-avenue.com/
Boca Raton- The Boca Raton Town Centre  www.simon.com/mall/default.aspx?ID=144
North Miami - Aventura Mall                       www.aventuramall.com/
Miami - Bal Harbour Mall                           www.balharbourshops.com/
Discount - Sawgrass Mills Mall                  www.simon.com/mall/default.aspx?ID=1262

South Florida is all about Mall shopping, which makes sense considering the weather. The above are your best bets for better quality brands and Bal Harbour for designer wear. Also a must at Bal Harbour , have lunch on the patio at Carpaccio's to observe the colourful locals in their natural habitat :)

I'll be back later with an update on the LOOK.

WHAT TO WEAR ON YACHT AND BOAT !

small boats.jpgRemember how we told you early on, that we do a lot of travelling? Well this is a benefit to you readers, cause now everywhere we go , we think about bringing you something unique about the lifestyle of wherever we happen to be!

Now we are in South Florida and the tip of the day is What To Wear on a boat or yacht.

Let's actually start that off by saying, here is what absolutely NOT to wear or else no captain will let you aboard:

Black soled or high heeled shoes. Both of these mark the hull of the boat.

So even fancy parties see models and actors either bare foot or making do with some white soled shoes!

As for clothes, stick to light colors and natural fabrics that breathe, linens and cottons are a good bet. And of course don't forget your bathing suit ,sunhat and sunblock.

While the tanning is great because of the reflection all around, it's also the easiest place to get a sunburn without feeling it. Always bring a coverup and large rimmed hat that has sunprotection built into the fabric.

SHOPPING REVIEW: NEW YORK & COMPANY @ THE BRANDS CLUB

safari jacket, wide leg sailor pants -ny & co.jpgNew York & Company, is a stylish casual ladies wear store at The Brands Club online mall. Great for picking up fashionable and trendy pieces to update your look and not hurt your wallet.

Most prices are under $50.00 for tops, dresses, skirts and accessories. The store also carries petite and tall sizes ( which is definitely a bonus).

During the current promotion, I saw some excellent buys on cotton separates, body shaper camis, basic t's and stylish casual separates. Excellent buys were also: the stylish trench coats and jackets on sale. Some of my favorite items ( pictured), include the safari jacket, the wide leg sailor jeans .

You can also pair the jacket with the pencil skirt in a python print  ( very Prada) for an instant style update.

In accessories, I spied some stylish gladiator flats on sale for $21.56 ( what? helloooo), a python and snake skin print belts for $15.96.

Lots of free shipping promotions for the U.S., but check for specific promo codes at time of purchase.

As well members of The Brands Club receive additional 3% cashback on all their purchases direclty into their online accounts . So if you are not yet a member? Click here to  JOIN for Free.

MARIE SAINT PIERRE-CANADIAN FASHION DESIGNER PROFILE

I have "discovered" an absolutely fantastic Canadian designer from Montreal:

                                  Marie Saint Pierre

Now let me explain. I have known about this maverick designer, who has been one of the super bright lights on the Fashion scene, for a long time. But today was the day that I actually lived the shopping experience first hand.

Needless to say, I'm hooked. What an amazing talent, who walks her own walk and sticks to her own vision.Which is perfect for acquiring that high fashion looking piece that will not go out of style for a long time, because it was unique in the first place. All outfits from fabric to sewing are made in Canada and the quality and pride of creation are evident in all pieces.

What particularly sets this designer apart is her hand made crinkled taffeta fabric. Great for travel, cause it doesn't wrinkle and is made to be hand washed and hung dry. According to the sales advisor, the couture outfits dry in 10 minutes and never loose their shape.

Marie Saint Pierre boutiques are located at 2081 rue de la Montagne and Rockland shopping centre in Montreal.Fashions at selected stores across Canada and the U.S. marie saint pierre small - inside store.jpg

CANADA STYLE MONTREAL SHOPPING REVIEW

by: Editor

In the downtown core your shopping mecca runs apx. from Bishop to Peel and St.Catherine to Sherbrooke streets. On Crescent street , you will find antiques and lots of outdoor cafes.  Shopping on St.Catherine is about name brands such as Aldo, Urban Outfitters,Le Chateau.

Worth checking out is a boutique called BEDO on the corner of De La Montagne and St.Catherine Streets for affordable trendy styles and visiting the Grande Dame of high end department stores Ogilvy's ( across the street). Then just walk up De La Montagne for really nice designer finds such as Chacok , Marie St.Pierre and Masska boutiques. Your high end designer shops are situated on Sherbrooke street , with the best found from Holt Renfrew at Crescent and all along Sherbrooke to Peel st. Make sure to check out San Remo for funky European Styles.

Also when at Sherbrooke and Crescent make sure to pop into the free Yoko Ono and John Lennon exhibit at The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

CANADA STYLE MONTREAL FASHION- STREET SCENE & SHOPPING

 By: Editor

Yours truly is currently in Montreal, Quebec. Taking in the scene, the scenesters and the scenery. I spent some time observing the street scene in Downtown Montreal around Crescent, Peel, Drummond streets, stretching from St.Catherine to Sherbrooke street.

The downtown area is best known for lots of brand name shops on rue St.Catherine, boutiques on Crescent and Drummond streets, trendy mall on Peel st. called Les Cours De Montreal. And of course lots and lots of restaurants, many with outdoor patios. Even in this +10 c degree weather, the outdoor patios are packed on Crescent st.

I can tell you definitely the most defining street  LOOK in  Montreal right now is: the short coat small pink trench and scarf.jpgor 3/4 length trench in black, beige, taupe and red, accompanied by a colorful , fringed long scarf.

It seems that almost every second Montrealaise is sporting a knit or pashmina scarf, wrapped twice and left long ( the back part) in the front. The scarf colors are predominantly solid in a variety of bright colors blue, purple, red, yellow.

The look is so fresh and so Montreal, that succumbing to the fashion pressure, I just had to get one ( alright I picked up a satin 3/4 trench as well).

I also wore the LOOK right out of the store and felt immediately at home.

Tomorrow, I will be investigating the fashionistas in the tony Westmount neighbourhood and will fill you in on any trends that I will see!

CELEBRITIES FASHION CAMPAIGNS- WHO'S THE BEST?

madonna small.JPGIt's no secret we want to buy what celebrites are selling, wearing and driving.

A number of major fashion design labels have chosen to capitalize on the celebrity status of entertainers rather than models to be the FACE and BODY in advertising campaigns of that label to the world.  Nevertheless, not all celebrities are exactly model material and some are a good fit for a fashion label and some are not..

Who do you think is the best Face and Body for a Fashion House and why?

1. Madonna for Louis Vuitton

2. Katie Holmes for Miu Miu

3. Gwyneth Paltrow for Tod's

4. Victoria Beckham for Armani Underwear

SHOPPING NEWS: RECESSION CHIC IS THE NEW BLACK IN CANADA

As you notice in a few previous blogs I have been blogging about the woman after my own heart, the fashion and quality focused shopper who wants good stuff for less. In other words chiconomic savvy recessionista.

Well now it's official. At the recent meeting of Fashion Design Group International, Canada's authority of the business of fashion and beauty, the top fashion trend watchers and stylists have voiced the same sentiments. It's all about the new frugality, the focus on quality, sustainable fashion, gorgeous design that will not go out of style by the next season! The Days of Conspicuous consumption of buying what we don't need and leaving it hanging in the closet are over.

The new reality is people will be buying less and being more choosy, looking for deals, looking for those extraordinary finds and maximizing their spending dollars!

According to Peter Papapetrou, Fashion Editor at Lush Magazine people will buy "the must have quality pieces and novelty items who speak to them emotionally".

Carly Stojsic, Market Editor Canada for www.wgsn.com the trending, analytics and news source for the global design and fashion industry, echoed the sentiment in saying that there has been a value shift in the marketplace with a focus on slow fashion, quality pieces that will last through a few seasons, focus on echo labels and clothing that addresses ethical and environmental issues.

Our mission here at The Brands Club is dedicated to finding and bringing you, our readers and members the top online merchants who provide the best value to the consumer. In addition, we have maximized the CASHBACK rebates to our members to further increase the value of your hard earned dollars. And our new shopping deals blog will bring you all the latest buzz and shopping alerts on amazing deals, designer sales, free gifts and special offers.

Chiconomics is what we are all about.

Please keep providing us with your feedback so that we can continue to bring you more of what you want!  editor@thebrandsclub.com

CELEBRITIES AND FASHION- AFFORDABLE CASUAL WEAR

Let's face it, why do we watch the award shows? Mostly to see who is wearing what, who looks great and who looks terrible...and maybe a little to see who actually won the award.

Since the Ocars have passed and have been covered to death, I want to focus on what celebrities are wearing on a daily basis. Believe it or not, just like the rest of us, they go shopping, take their kids for walks, eat out at restaurants. While very few of us can afford the hairdresser, stylist and  $3,000 dollar dress and the million dollar jewelry that the stars doll out for the big awards their every day gear is surprisingly affordable.

CELEBRITIES AND FASHION - CELEBRITY FASHION LINES

A number of people have written in asking for us to talk about celebrity styles and fashions.

So this week's blog focus will be all about that. What are they wearing, designing, who is the new muse and best of all where can you find the clothes and the LOOK.

I thought I would start the topic off with a look at Celebrity Fashion Lines.

I have to amit that I am a fashion design purist and have always overlooked the celebrity lines as more of a short term trend or fad. Well, sometimes even a design purist can be pleasantly surprised. It seems that the trend has changed from celebrities merely lending a name to actually getting involved with the design and manufacturing of their designs.

Here is a look at some of the celebrities turned fashion and jewelry designers :

Nicole Ritchie- House of Harlow 1960 . She is also planning on a children's clothing line and bags and accesories. Way to go Nicole.

Fergi's agent apparently put her together with the folks from Brown shoes and a very fergalicious line was born indeed. Same goes to Jessica Simpson's line of shoes and bags, pretty and very wearable.

Sienna Miller and Penelope Cruz both teamed up with their sisters to lauch their fashion designs. Twenty8twelve for Miller and a fashion line for Mango stores for Cruz sisters. Elle Macpherson lingerie line launched in 2005 is very popular due to sexy styles and affordable prices. And of course we cannot overlook Victoria Beckham's line of sleek dresses, she amazed the fashion press this year with her wearable dress designs whose limited editions sold out the minute they hit the shelves in London.

Even the boys are getting in on the act. Sean "PDiddy" combs with his street wear line Sean John, Justin Timberlake with urban wear William Rast and both Bono and David Arquette  getting into echo clothing lines, Edun and Propr.

As some research has unveiled surprisingly pretty, well made and stylish fashions and accessories from some of our favorite celebs:

CANADA STYLE REVIEW: SHOPPING FOR CHARITY!

by: Editor

Shopping and Charity are not an oxymoron!

I'm talking about auctions at charity events and galas.  I know most people right now, are not thinking of attending charity events, but I would suggest that in times of economic distress is when the less fortunate need your help the most. It is also much more affordable than one might believe. And a great opportunity for the deal hunting recessionista!

Here is what most people don't realize. Your ticket price to the event is tax deductible, which means that at least in Canada 50% of what you have paid will come back to you in a tax receipt.  Most formal events have a sit down dinner which is pricy, as it has to cover the cost of food. In most of these cases , table of 8 or 10 are "sold" to corporations.  Many of these events also have an "after party" event which commences after the dinner is finished . The "after party" is aimed at individuals and is priced anywhere from $50.00 to $150.00 per person.

Another great reason to support charity events? The auctions! Phenomenal items ranging from clothing, jewelry, gift certificates to restaurants, art, spa treatments and so on are donated to the Charity. The bidding usually starts at apx. 60% off the real value of the item and there is no tax on purchases. Here is a sample of incredible acquistions at the recent event for Pediatric Oncology Group http://www.pogo.ca/:

small tiffany.JPGPython purse regular price $3500.00 -       winning bid $700.00

$500 gift certificate to Designer Boutique - winning bid $300.00

Tiffany's necklace regular price $650.00   - winning bid $400.00

Fantastic deals? Of course they are, the difference here is that all the money from the winning bids goes to the Charitable organization. So not only did you score, but you also helped a lot of other people while doing it!

THE RISE OF THE RECESSIONISTA

This article from Reuters caught my eye. As it really describes a woman after my own heart AND the sign of the times.

"As the world economy tanks, recessionistas are finding pleasure in finding bargains rather than splurging in an era where ostentatious consumption -- even for the well-off -- is beginning to appear gauche.

"There is something grotesque about paying full price -- $2,500 - $3,500 on a handbag. It is such a dumb thing to do," said Mandi Norwood, former editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan and Mademoiselle magazines.

"It is very chic to save and very chic to get a deal. Any girl wants to look stylish but also be perceived as smart," she said.

The word recessionista -- originally a person who enjoys dressing fashionably on a budget -- has gained rapidly in currency and now embraces the worlds of dining, entertaining and beauty.

It was declared the word of the week on the Macmillan Dictionary Web site last week and is one of the top fashion buzz words of 2009, along with its sibling "chiconomics," according to the Global Language Monitor.

Recessionistas enjoy hunting for bargains on sample sale Web sites, in consignment stores and in discount stores which commission inexpensive fashion lines from top designers."

Personally, I have always loved finding the GREAT deal. It is the thrill of the hunt as much as the actual acquistion. There is just something so satisfying about getting the perfect shoe, purse, top at a major savings. It feels like winning the lottery!

So ladies, CHICONOMICS all the way and yours truly is dedicated to bringing you the BEST Canadian and U.S. fashion and style deals I can source.

SHOPPING REVIEW: SHOEBUY.COM @ THE BRANDS CLUB

Shoebuy.com has over 800 brands and 700,000 shoes. Brands such as:  Birkenstock, Jessica Simpson and Fergie to high end designers such as :Fendi, Bally and Bottega Veneta and many more .

The selection is outstanding and there are bargains galore. I was also plesantly surprised by the Designer bags and accessories.

Shoebuy.com also carries every kind of running shoe imaginable which makes it easy to shop for. If you are like me, you pretty much buy the same brand of running shoe, maybe in different colors. So once you know your size and brand, it's easy to buy the repeats online cause you know the exact fit. In any case, shipping and return shipping is free with this store in the United States so even if you get the size wrong there is no cost to you for returns.

I checked out prices for shipping to Canada and it was reasonable if you find a really good deal. Nevertheless it's important to factor that cost of shipping into the price when buying from U.S. stores, because it can easily add between $10 and up to $30.00 to the total bill. (The cashback of 11% on all your purchases which goes automatically into your online account if you are a member of The Brands Club helps to offset the shipping costs.) Check out this shipping to Canada guide for more info.

As you savvy, Canadian shoppers know, you have to shop the really great sales where the discounts more than make up for currency exchange or shipping costs. Seemed to me that there were some very good deals and lots of selelction to be found with this merchant. See also what the press say about them:

THE FASHIONABLE POOCH

As I sat there smirking at the crazy over the top indulgence of the dog owners in the

Beverly Hills Chihuahua movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1014775/

Never in a hundred years did I expect to be visiting a Pet boutique to outfit our new puppy.

butterscotch resized.JPGWell, guess what? Winter came with slush and mud. With it came the dirty paws and dirty fur and a cold pup shivering from the cold. So off I went to the pet store intending to ONLY buy the most functional of paw booties and small jacket. 2 hours later I walked out with a fleece lined, hooded pink "jacket" and Italian leather  booties.

So just before you start sniggering, ask yourself one simple question. Would you let your kids out of the house in anything less than the best quality?. Something that would keep them warm and dry and last for a long time? Well pet clothes are like that as well. And your pet, he or she becomes like your child as well. At least mine did.

There are vastly different quality in pet/dog attire and the really cheap stuff wears out very fast. The first one, lasted about a week, growing puppies are not exactly gentle on their clothes. So my suggestion is to get well made outfits and booties that don't fall off!

Check out the hoodies and the ski vests at ROOTS pet and Manhattanite for cute outfits.

As to dressing your chihuahua in designer duds and real expensive jewellery, sorry that's just plain oh... I don't know , but I'm sure dear readers you can come up with a good name!

DOLCE & GABBANA

smallest -3.jpg Are launching a makeup line?

Great, about time. I have no doubt it will be thought through not only for the latest fashion look but with image and beauty enhancing elements.

I have to say these guys are some of my favorite designers. Why?

Because they know how to make a woman look good in their clothes. Many of  the dresses  are expertly cut and structured with built in bra support, waist slimming corset style boning and the right cut to raise the derriere. The suits are also structured to create the element of a slimmer waist and the cut of the pants is high enough to eliminate any muffin top and low  enough to be fashionable.

The clothes are a perfect mix of  classy sex appeal which is not only easy on the eye for the beholder, but makes the wearer feel more confident.
