Aptly the pants are called: Yoga Jeans. According to Second Clothing , they have created these form fitting, yet comfortable pants from 98% brushed cotton and 3% elastane. The cuts and styles are supposed to hold, shape and lengthen the body. They come in high to low rise and have bootcut, straight leg and skinny jeans and they are being praised as "miracle jeans" by women of all shapes and ages because they flatter all types of curves.
Sounds good to us, definitely worth a fitting. You never know, but it might even help break our LouLou Lemon yoga pants weekend wear habit!
Canadian model Coco Rocha has been the it girl of fashion for quite some time now.

The clutch purse is a definite must have for the evening and it can be one of your stand out accessories be in color, texture or jewel enhancements. We chose our Jessica McClintock Clutch from Designer Imports. It had the shape, the color and the aligator print and the affordable price ($38.00)we were looking for. Not only are all the design elements of that clutch super hot this season,we think you can't go wrong in picking up that purse, at that price, in a few different colors! Go for jewel tones!
A classic pump does not go out of style, ours is called April Heel and we found it at Heels.com. The heel is not too high and shallower side shape on the side of the foot will slenderize the foot's appearance.
As for our choice of jewelry we absolutely adore the delicate , floral shaped Carolee Cascading Crystal earrings from Max & Chloe. They are pretty, fashionable and look exactly like jewelry pieces costing well into the thousands of dollars. At just over $50.00 they are a steal!

The Victoria's Secret fashion show looks all fun and flirty on television, but when you are showing off your body in skimpy lingerie you have to have lots of confidence, show your personality and have fun with it.
So says Liu Wen the first Asian model to walk the runway for Victoria's Secret. In an interview, with Modelinia, Liu Wen said that she didn't think an Asian girl would get the job,
"For me it was so surprising and exciting," she said. "The first time I heard the news, my booker told me, 'Congratulations, you booked the Victoria's Secret job!' And I was like, 'Really? You're not joking?' I was so surprised because everyone wants to wear the Victoria's Secret clothes. I didn't think an Asian girl would get this job!" "I'm so scared because this is a really big job with huge supermodels! Two days ago I watched the 2005, 2006, 2007 shows, and I got so excited because I want to try different poses. It's very sexy, but I'm so scared because I don't know how to do the sexy poses!"
Really, it seems hard to believe two things, one that this is a first time an Asian girl has walked the runway for Victoria's Secret (what were they waiting for?) and two, that a model like Wen doesn't know how to do sexy poses! Considering that she has been on the cover of Elle and Cosmopolitan and done runway shows for everyone from Alexander McQueen to Gucci, Prada and Yves. St. Laurent, we didn't think she was going to have any trouble.
After the show, Liu Wen said, "Walking in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is not like walking any other runway show. I got to show the audience my personality and I had so much fun!" Guess she has figured out sexy after all!
To get in shape for the show, Wen followed a strict routine that she shared with us.
"I have a very well balanced diet that includes a lot of vegetables and grains. It's also really important to keep hydrated. I like glacéau vitaminwater because it tastes great and keeps me going with my busy schedule."
Check out Liu Wen in her fitting for the Victoria's Secret show below and remember to watch it on Tuesday, December 1st at 10 pm.
"Mr Ungaro has his views, he can keep them. I have no comment," so says Mounir Moufarrige, CEO of Ungaro in response to harsh criticism by Emanuel Ungaro to Moufarrige choice of artistic advisor, Lindsay Lohan and her fashion debut for Ungaro.
Reuteurs reports that the retired founder Emanuel Ungaro, who stepped down from Ungaro a few years was quoted by media as saying the Ungaro collection with Lindsay Lohan acting as an advisor, was a "disaster." As we have reported previously, Lindsay Lohan received very poor reviews of her intitial collection Ungaro debut at Paris Fashion week.
"Moufarrige went on to say "Yes (she's staying on), she has a job to do,"
"The criticism was harsh. I am sure we can do better in the collection to be honest but I think it was harsh ... But it did sell well," Moufarrige said.
He added that future Ungaro collections needed to be "more tight, more identity driven."
He said Britain's upmarket Harvey Nichols and Harrods as well as New York's Bloomingdales and Japanese stores were among those who had shown interest."
Well what do you know, the old adage holds: publicity is publicity. Besides this is prepping up for a great potential comeback with a new collection. Let's be honest here, how much input does Lindsay Lohan really have? The Ungaro fashion line is really being designed by a professional designer Estrella Archs. Our bet is the fall collection will be an amazing one. Moufarrige had shocked the fashion world once before when he replaced Karl Lagerfeld with the then 25 year old Stella McCartney for Chloe and it all worked out quite well. With Lindsay Lohan as a prop generating the buzz that he wanted, Moufarrige might get the last laugh after all. Let's wait and see what happens in the Spring shows.
In a new series of "Inspired By" we will be bringing you some of the latest fashion trends and influencers from the world's top fashion designers and interpreting the runway look to be worn in real life and with affordable price tags.
Today our feature is the Lanvin daytime to evening suit and accessories.
One of our favorite French designers is Alber Elbaz, the designer for the house of Lanvin. Elbaz who had previously worked with Geoffrey Beene and Yves St.Laurent has been the artistic director at Lanvin since 2001.
Lanvin's elegant daytime to evening suit above has emerged as a major direction for suiting this season and next year. The style evokes a 40's feel with exagerated shoulder, fitted jacket and belted waist. The modern twist comes in the form of the architecturally draped, slit skirt. The accessories as well, marry the classic with a twist. The gloves and headpiece evoke the glamour of an earlier era, while the platform booties say 2010.
The Lanvin suit and accessories above retail well over $5,000.00, our outfit is under $450.00
Lanvin clothing and accessories can be purchased at Holt Renfrew.
The "Inspired By" look can be purchased at the following stores:
1. Two-Tone Blazer : Esprit
2. Two-Tone Skirt: Esprit
3. Feather & Flower Headband: Bebe
4. Leather Dress Belt: BeltOutlet.com
5. Jessica Leather Arc Stitch Gloves: Sears Canada
6. Kunz Boot: Aldo
World renowned jewelry houses will be joining top designers next week to create the most extravagant fashion week that Paris has ever seen.
The Telegraph reports that in January, haute joaillerie houses have been invited for the first time in 150 years to join haute couture fashion houses in fashion for Paris haute couture week to bring in the spring/summer 2010 season.
Chanel, Dior, Gaultier, and Valentino will be joined by well-known jewelry makers Boucheron, Cartier, Chanel Joaillerie, Chaumet, Christian Dior Joaillerie, Mellerio dits Meller and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Paris hatue couture week begins on January 24th and end on the 28th, which will be the day dedicated to the jewellers.
Wow, this will be something to watch and dream about!
In this episode 10 of Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester , a.k.a "Blair Waldorf "looks very European . She is wearing a Theory jacket ($595.00), Judith Jack Bangle ($150) and Manolo Blahnik red open toe pumps ($655.00). The bib necklace, chanel black and white purse and beret accentuate the European / trendy look. Total cost of Gossip Girl look above: apx.$3,700.00 including the clothing and accessories.
Being the bargain hunters extra ordinaires, we found all of the above match up pieces for under $65.00 per item and two designer purses for under $225.00 all at stores in our favorite online mall. Total cost of our look: under $370.00 Here are some of our favorite finds:
We think the Blu Bijoux Ribbon Necklace from Max & Chloe is a real steal at $60.00, the bib necklace is one of the most enduring trends in jewelry and this one looks amazing. Also the open toe, Beston evening red shoes from Shoebuy for $36.95.Considering that they look a lot like the Manolo's above, we love them! We also adore the black and white patent leather Italian designer purses from Yoox. At just over $200.00 a piece, they are still at least $1,000.00 less than the gorgeous Chanel, Leighton Meester is carrying. Yes nothing beats Chanel, we know, but if you want the look at an affordable price , we think our choices are a great alternative.

Singer Leona Lewis is rumoured to be working on an ethical clothing line with designer Stella McCartney.
The pop star told The Daily Mirror, "There's so much I want to do. I've always wanted to have my own fashion line, and that's something I want to focus on next year...I'm on a mission. I'd love to promote a line of non-leather bags and shoes that are affordable...I think more needs to be available and not so expensive."
Reports say she met Stella McCartney backstage at an event and they bonded over their idea and passion for animal rights.
Leona Lewis says that she struggles to find products to wear to events that aren't made of leather or fur.
There are a lot of celebrity fashion lines popping up, but this Leona Lewis-Stella McCartney rumour has something different that could make it stand out if it comes true.
Carrie Underwood wears the relaxed, boho chic trend which continues to be a popular look with celebrities and stylists alike. Reminiscent of the 70's, the key pieces to this look are loose, blouson type tops in light cotton or chiffon. Usually in an ethnic , floral or paisley print. A big bag and often a floppy hat and some tribal jewelry or long necklaces accessorize the look. Bottoms can be anything from the cargo style pants you see on Carrie Underwood to cut off denim shorts or capris in the warmer months. Some other celebrities known to be big proponents for the Boho chic look are Nicole Ritchie and stylist Rachel Zoe.

Jennifer Lopez sings her single " Louboutins" last night at the American Music Awards. Talk about immortalizing fashion. She starts off in a boxer outift, performing with male boxers and changes in the middle of the song to a gold lame skirt and custom made Christian Louboutin booties. Lopez even takes a tumble jumping off one man's back, but like a true contender she picks herself right up and keeps on going . How? You guessed it, by "Throwing on her Louboutins"! Take a look:

Again? First Ralph Lauren photoshop disaster that brought to light the fact that most major magazines routinely photoshop images of their models to achieve the elusive "perfection" and set improbable standards of physical beaty. And now this? In this cover of W magazine, Demi Moore's left hip appears to be photoshopped and this latest mishap has become a topic of many a blog and media posts. To add fuel to the fire, Demi Moore is denying ( via twitter) that the picture has been photoshopped which has in turn provoked photographer Anthony Citrano to state that he will donate $5,000.00 to a charity of Demi's choice if she can prove it that the photos are not photoshopped. W magazine told Jezebel that nothing out of the ordinary has happened here, but apparently NOT denying that the photo was retouched. Wow,what drama! Again as we wrote in the Ralph Lauren post, is everyone asleep in the art department of these magazines or fashion houses? Or is the whole thing a big publicity campaign to get everyone to buy W with Demi Moore on the cover? If so then it's working for sure!
Zac Posen is joining the leagues of designers creating affordable lines to make some money during tough times. Z spoke will be sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and feature separates like knits, shorts and blazers. He has called the collection "hipster" to WWD. The lines starts at $75 for a t-shirt and ranges up to $700.
Burberry will be expanding in the future. While they aren't getting rid of anything the fashion house wants to expand their leather goods, children's wear and sportswear lines. Burberry says there is demand for belts and shoes. They say they will remained true to who they are.
It's tough times for magazines, but not for Karl Lagerfeld. He has decided to create a magazine of his own. 31 Rue Cambon will be the new Chanel magazine sold in all boutiques. We aren't sure if this will just be a big, beautiful catalogue or an actual magazine yet.
As well while some fashion houses are potentially shutting down, others are aiming for major expansions. The House of Lanvin sold a minority stake in it's parent company and will use the funds for global expansion and Tommy Hilfinger plans to open another 100 stores by March in addition to the 950 the company currently operates.
Some of the killer Cullen family instinct must have rubbed off on Twilight stars Ashley Green and Kellan Lutz. On screen they play vampires Alice and Emmett Cullen, but off screen their killer instincts lead them to great style.
During the publicity tour for the next step in the Twilight saga, New Moon, Ashley Green has been turning heads with her bright yellow dress and sexy thigh-high boots. While her fictional brother, Kellan Lutz rocks a leather jacket and motorcycle boots like he is ready to go for a ride.
These are simple looks that can make any couple go from drab to fab.

It's official. Tickets for New Moon of the Twilight saga, sold out in hours after being offered to the public in an early bird special. The movie which opens in theatres tomorrow is expected to be huge box office draw. Fueled by a mostly young teenage audience, the movie is expected to gross over 300 to 400 million dollars. It might seem like a lot ( and it is) but the same audience helped make another young and improbable love story bring in close to 2 billion dollars world wide a decade before, that movie was the Titanic. Here are some of the stylish young stars of New Moon movie looking very glam and sophisticated for the Los Angeles movie Premiere. Kristen Stewart wore Oscar De La Renta, Taylor Lautner looked dapper in a blue Calvin Klein suit and Robert Pattinson sported fitted tuxedo, both wore skinny ties. Take a look:
It goes to show that when you are on Gossip Girl, the hottest show for fashion on television, everyone is always watching what you wear. The world is obsessed with Gossip Girl style right now with internet exploding with commentary after every episode and girls walking into stores with tear sheets from magazines asking for the exact Gossip Girl look. So whether you are on or off the set chances are you will be watched and everything you wear scrutinized and critiqued as in the case of Leighton Meester yesterday.
Leighton Meester sported two looks at the opening party for the American Eagle flagship store in New York and now the internet has exploded with pictures of her in what some writers are calling a disaster. She shocked on the red carpet with her over the top makeup and in a low-cut leather dress. To perform her song "Somebody To Love," she changed into the rainbow coloured leggings, a black vest and studded ankle boots with a gold necklace and her hair plopped on top of her head, she was supposed to be channelling the 80's, but alas the reaction to the look has been less than flattering.
The critics have spoken, now it's up to you to decide.

here is the video of the whole thing:

As we have reported earlier in the Trend reports this season's accessories are all about glamour and shine. You want to bedazzle your audience as you walk into the room. Nevertheless the look is still very elegant, no need to go over the top, you want shine not blind.
Above are some pretty earrings, rings, bracelet, shoes and bag that will make you stand out. Blue and turquise have been a particular favorite colors of many jewelry designers this year and will continue to be a BIG color through spring and summer. The pearl bracelet is different enough to be noticed while still maintaining a classic feel and the opal ring surrounded by diamonds is again an elegant and classic look.
Notice the bejewelled heel on the pump, celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch told our readers that this is the hottest emerging trend for party footwear. The clutch is classic and has the sparkle embellishments set in a pave diamond pattern near the closing, giving it a sophisticated update. This style will last you through several seasons. We have matched the shoes and the purse in this post and they go perfectly together, but you can easily mix and match your shoes and bag. In October we told you that, Sheikh Hassan Ben Ali al-Naimi made a $100 million bid for the fashion house that was expected to save it from collapse. At that time Lacroix said ""As a Latin guy, I'll believe it when it happens". It maybe just be the "famous last words".
AFP reports that the French tribunal finished up bankrupcy hearings for the fashion house of Christian Laxroix with no news of any buyers today. The judicial administrator said "To this day, bidders to take over the firm have not justified the means of financing their company plans, or at least not sufficiently."
A new hearing is set for December 1st giving buyers Gulf investor Hassan bin Ali al-Nuaimi and France's Bernard Krief Consulting time to submit details.
Like other fashion houses, such as Versace, Christian Lacroix has been suffering due to the economic downturn. Reuters reports that in 22 years of trading they have never made a profit and lost 10 million euros in 2008.
In a designer collaboration with Asprey, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt ,often referred to as Hollywood's royal couple have created a high end jewelry line based on a snake design called The Protector. Angelina Jolie chose this design after she was given a 'snake' ring when she was pregnant with Shiloh and has since considered the symbol a protection talisman for her family. Very admirably ALL net profits from the collection which will sell in Asprey stores in main cities around the world, are going to support a children's charity called Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which was cofounded by Jolie in 2006. The charity raises awareness and funds to educate child victims of war, conflict and natural disasters. Here is a sample of some of the jewelry pieces:
"Walk, Walk Fashion Baby" are some of the words in Lady Gaga's new Bad Romance video and needless to say our favorite art fashion/ diva/ singer/ performance artist does not fail to deliver lots of naughty and wild fashions in this video. The part of the video that has been attracting a lot of attention is where Lady Gaga wears a gold Alexander McQueen dress and his now famous 12 inch booties. She seems to walk just find in them, albeit carefully. Take a look:

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz wants her own fashion line. The actress was recently fired from her job on Melrose Place, but she has new ideas for the future including her own fashion line (following in her sister Jessica's footsteps again). She says she wants the line to be preppy and punk rock.
Victoria Secret is adding its first Asian model since 2003 to next week's show. Heidi Klum may not be strutting it on the runway this year, but Liu Wen will be representing. It should come as no surprise that they wanted her as she walked for Gucci, Chanel and Prada this September alone.

One thing for sure, is that Jimmy Choo's capsule collection for H&M is a runaway success, checking in with some of our favorite bloggers in NYC we found one who documented the madcap shopping experience literally in minutes. A couple of calls around town this morning also showed that by 11:30 a.m most Jimmy Choo merchandise was sold out in Toronto and New York City.Considering that stores just opened at 10 am, those are impressive sales numbers for H&M! Here is a sample of what went on in NYC this morning:
10:35am: There is a frenzy for the studded belt! Everyone is carrying one. I see lots of the suede dress in gray ($249.) Staffers are restocking clothes at record rates.
10:38am: Staffers brought out the super-cute small chain-link zebra studded bag, which started a grabbing frenzy. It's $99.
10:40am: They're keeping the shoe area penned off by metal gates. There is a huge crush of people outside the gates waiting to get in.
10:42am: Mannequin down near the shoes! It's a mob scene over here.
10:44am: The bracelets are adorable. Wide wristband with round studs for $24.95, chunky rhinestones-and-chain statement necklace for $49.95. I see lots of girls grabbing the sequin tank for $69.95.
10:52am: There are nice accessories in men's. Large gray suede zipper tote with a removable long studded strap, $249. Brown studded thin belt for $39.95. Brown croc weekender and black croc messenger bag for $249. Men's suede boots $199 and suede tie $49.95.
10:54am: Men's black suits are $249. Soft blue v-neck cashmere sweater, $99.
10:59am: People are let into the shoe area in 10 minute intervals, organized by color (as per the rules on the flier they handed out earlier.) The gray group is up next. They have their own checkout and it's super-calm and empty in there. I see the black booties, the blue strappies, the black strappy studded ones...it's kind of crazy outside the gate.
11:03am: Megaphone guy is giving minute by minute warnings: "8 minutes left."
11:04am: Girls are buying an average of three pairs each. One girl has a boyfriend carrying her extra three. Oooh, somebody's getting the over-the-knee boots!
11:10am: I'm back in the clothes section and there is a lot of stock being constantly replenished. The $249 black leather zip front collarless jacket is really soft.
11:12am: Leather pants are $199. Lots of girls are grabbing the black sequined zip front cardigan, too ($129.)
11:14am: Also popular: The long-sleeved rhinestone-covered low-back dress for $129. And the black embellished skyline-design long-sleeved tee for $99.
11:20am: I swear every other girl is carrying the sequined tank.
11:35am: Heading out. People are still trickling into the line outside

It used to be that the world of high fashion belonged to us mostly in the magazines and on tv, we would wistfully look at the unattainable garments in expensive store front windows, never daring to come in and wondering who can afford $3,000.00 gowns and $1200.00 dollar shoes. The recent world recession has changed all that, the Fashion houses and the luxury market suffered the brunt of the closed wallet and have learned to adapt. How? By designing secondary or capsule collections for mass market trendy mega stores like Target, H&M and Walmart. While "celebrity" designer collaborations with the mega retailers span a few decades going back to the likes of Jacqueline Smith and Kmart, the high end established designer collaborations are only a few years old. Karl Lagerfeld, Mathew Williamson, Jimmy Choo for H&M, Anna Sui, Alexander Wang and Alexander McQueen for Target just to name a few.
Now one of the most established French fashion designers also joins the Target team. Jean-Paul Gaultier will join other designers at Target. The designer has announced he will be creating a line for Target for next spring, which he says will be a tribute to American women. Gaultier is known for his work with Madonna and is currently the creative director at Hermes.
The diversify or perish concept of making high fashion more affordable and attainable is great. Now real people can afford to shop the look. But the Question becomes at which point do you dilute your high end brand?
If you can now buy top designer fashions at Costco such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Ferragamo, Tod and Coach is it the same as creating a special collection for H&M? Does the concept of LV bag in the X dollar bin in isle 5, potentially risk the very same thing that made the items so desirable in the first place: the dream of owning something special and exclusive? Or is this a barganista's dream come true?
'You Light Up My Life' comes to mind as the theme song for this wonder garment named Galaxy Dress and designed by two London based designers Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz who form CuteCircuit.
The Galaxy Dress was made for Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry future exhibition. The dress is made of 24,000 led lights and it uses apx. the same amount of energy as two household light bulbs. Incredible! As we showed you earlier, some forward looking designers from the 1930's predicted with scary accuracy many of the fashions we have worn for the last few decades. Maybe CuteCircuit are onto something with the Galaxy Dress. See more details of how the dress is made here and take a look at the dress in the video:

It seems like the menswear look never really goes away. Some form of the style has been around since the 70's. This season has been all about ultra glam and feminine fashions with ruffles, daytime sequins and lots of dresses. This feminine look will continue into the spring.
To make the menswear look fresh this season pair a classic gray wool suit with a white feminine shirt. Accessorize with a large type face watch and lace up shoes or boots. Suspenders add a cute touch to the look and reference the 80's ( another big fashion influence this season).
Shop the above looks at the following stores:

2. AL-Pauchi1 Shirt: Mango: $69.90

The fashion world has already called the Lindsay Lohan line for the fashion house Ungaro a disaster and now the company's founder is doing the same. The original designer Emanuel Ungaro has told the press just how disappointed he is.
The Independent reports that Emanuel Ungaro said "Lindsay Lohan's collaboration was a disaster" during a press conference on Monday. He added, "I am furious but I can't do anything about it."
Ungaro's CEO already admitted that they hired Lindsay Lohan on as the artistic advisor as a publicity stunt, which completely backfired on them when the collection got horrible reviews.
Emanuel Ungaro left the house in 2004, but he still has strong feelings toward the company that bears his name. He told reporters that Ungaro "is in the process of losing its soul... That happens to a lot of designers. We were the creators and patrons, responsible for the creation and destiny of our houses. But when we gave up our houses, we gave up our souls."
Andy The-Anh loves the color blue : aqua blue, royal blue, sky blue. We at Canada Style like it also, there is something fresh, blue sky /turquise ocean feel about the color. We also liked the light chiffon fabrics Andy has used for many of his gowns, as in " floating on a cloud".
For Spring-Summer 2010, Andy The-Anh has included more separates than every before. His jackets are the stars of the show for this season. Structured jackets with bold necklines and interesting architectural lines come in every colour from bold blues and pinks to subtle tan and white.
Andy also works his classic tailoring on the sheath dress, a must have for the season. While the little black dress is a staple for every wardrobe for winter and spring alike we quite liked the beige sleeveless sheath with the waist detailing. Throw a jacket over it and it works perfectly for the office, pair with a bold necklace and you are ready for the evening. The black waist cut-ins also create a slimming effect on the waist. ( see picture below).
Another favorite outfit of Canada Style is the white dinner suit. The off the shoulder jacket gives a nice line to the decolettage and shoulder area and is not "over the top" . The look can also be divided to create more outfits. Pair the pants with any top to dress up or make a look more casual.Wear the jacket with a pencil skirt in any color for another elegant evening look.
The result: a collection with a reinvented architectural elegance, a new structural silhouette and archetypal Andy The-Anh sleekness. (Andy The-Anh)

Nicole Richie is definitely on a style roll, first her successful House of Harlow costume jewelry line, then the maternity line for Pea in a Pod, the shoe line and now the clothing line called Winter Kate. As far as celebrity designers go, Nicole Richie is serious and committed. This makes a world of difference. Take a look at the Winter Kate clothing line:

If you live in Canada or the North of the United States, hats and head covers will be top of mind ( literally) very soon. Above are some stylish winter looks to keep you warm and looking Hot. First up is the Snood. Not sure where the name comes from but this is defnitely an item that is predicted to be a big seller for the upcoming season, WSJ even says that it might be THE item for Christmas sales :
"This holiday season, retailers are betting big on the snood, a cross between a scarf and a hood that, when worn over the head, is reminiscent of a babushka.
The trend emerged on the Fall 2009 runways of designers like Missoni (knit snoods) and Burberry (plaid snoods) and also made an appearance in the commercial collections of Donna Karan and Yves Saint Laurent. Now it's gone mainstream, with retailers ranging from American Apparel to Zara getting behind the loopy style with snoods of varying lengths and monikers. The British version of GQ magazine's Web site recently posted a "Guide to Snoods," suggesting wearers try it "over a chunky knit or tailored jacket."
The ear muffs in the leopard print are a cute way to update your wardrobe with a touch of the mega popular animal print and keep your ears from being frozen. The Russian style hat with a fake fur trim will bring attention to your eyes and the beret is ever so chic and never seems to go out of style. Nevertheless for the really cold winter days and nights we are sticking to our tried and true Canadian 100% wool toques.
Shop the above hats and head covers at the following stores:
1. Circle Scarf: American Apparel: $34.00
2. Ombre Sparkle Leopard Earmuff: Sears: $5.00
3. The Rendezvous Tube Scarf: Karmaloop: $32.00
4. Parkhurst Faux Fur Hat: Sears Canada: $40.00
5. Yukon Reversible Toque: Roots: $30.00

Chanel is being sued by a 61-year-old seamstress in France over a crochet pattern that she alleges the fashion house copied from her.
Carmen Colle is suing Chanel for $3.7 million over a crochet pattern she saw on a sweater in Tokyo that she says they stole from her. Carmen Colle is not just your average little old lady crocheting and looking for an easy buck. She owns World Tricot, a company that hand makes haute couture items for Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gautier and Chanel.
If she wins, this case could set standards for the fashion world empowering the little guys that work as tailors and seamstresses in these big fashion houses. They could fight for more control over the patterns they create if of course they do in fact have a copyright to those patterns.
Carmen Colle told the Guardian: "It is not just World Tricot at stake. It is the recognition of small businesses and their creations," she said. "[Big names] treat us as things they can take up and then throw away. It's a shame for them. The greatness of a country, and the greatness of a brand, is the respect it shows for its petites mains."
She also says that since the lawsuit has been filed her company has suffered by losing clients and the support of the bank. She should be ready for some type of backlash when she is taking on a company this big.
Chanel is denying the claims saying she does not have copyright if she made something based on Chanel's outline. This will potentially set a new precident for the fashion industry which is beleaguered by copy cats and fake goods.
Ok , now we are talking! Finally some great design and fitness combo in a winter boot. This new innovation is being brought to us by none other than fashion designer Anna Sui. First she started off designing a successful "Gossip Girl" collection for Target and now Sui has teamed up with the makers of FitFlop. Smart fashionistas don the company's flip flops in the summer, to look good while they are toning their legs and looosing weight at the same time.
Now the whole concept comes in a winter version also and with an Anna Sui design, the boot is rather cute.
"The Shakoha, the epitome of fashion meets fitness, is a double-faced shearling lined suede boot with metal studs and hand stitched detail, built on the FitFlop patent-pending Microwobbleboard™ midsole, so you get a workout while you walk" (FitFlop)
The idea is really smart and a potential retail winner in the making here. Just thinking that one is upping the burn factor wearing these boots might just send this writer for an extra long walk to the coffee shop in the morning!
We already told you that the Kardashian's will be creating a line for Bebe, and now Nicole Richie is joining the party. Nicole Richie will be designing an exclusive House of Harlow 1960 jewelry line for Bebe. Nicole Richie is quickly becoming one of the busiest girls around with all of her fashion lines and her new baby.
Alicia Keys is jumping on the jewelry collection trend as well. The singer will be unveiling her new jewelry line in New York on November 23rd. It is co-designed with Gisele Theriault of The Barber's Daughter accessory line.
A few men will be joining the ranks of celebrity fashion designer as well. LA Laker Lamar Odom, who is better known as the man who had a shotgun wedding with Khloe Kardashian, launched his fashion line Rich Soil which is urban wear for men, women and babies. And southern rockers King of Leon are joining up with Surface to Air to create their own exclusive line. Their southern style isn't really fashion forward, so it will be interesting to see what they can come up with.
Speaking of men as fashion designers. It looks like Justin Timberlake is taking his William Rast brand to the next level. The contemporary sportswear brand, cofounded by Timberlake and his friend Trace Ayala, unveiled its fusion of a Hollywood lifestyle with Tennessee roots in three California stores that opened Sunday, heralding the launch of 40 to 50 stores by 2012. Stores in Chicago, New York, San Diego, Las Vegas, Miami and Scottsdale, Ariz., are to make their debuts next year. The company also targeted Germany, the U.K. and Japan for units. Coinciding with the retail rollout will be next fall's introduction of shoes to complement the trendy jeans, weathered leather jackets and plaid shirts produced by the four-year-old brand
The Stars of Gossip Girl are watched as much for their fashions as for their acting, so even while hanging out on the set off Gossip Girl, it's important to look fabulous. The show is known for its fashion forward, trend setting styles. If the kids on Gossip Girl are wearing a "look" you are sure to see the same styles on the trendy set shortly.
Singer Hillary Duff has a guest spot on Gossip Girl this season. Here she is below with Penn Badgley, her Gossip Girl boyfriend. Their super casual looks seem effortless, but you can be sure it's the 'dernier cru'. Loving how they both seem to match with the jean jackets, the leather purses or in his case murse and black on the legs. Plaid shirts are huge for men this fall and wearing black opaque hose and a black bootie creates a singular line, thus lengthening the legs. A black mini dress is a must have this season.

Louis Vuitton fashion house has replaced Madonna as it's main model . The new face of Louis Vuitton will now be Dutch supermodel Lara Stone.
This is definitely a mystery. Louis Vuitton fashion brand has replaced Madonna as it's model even though not too long ago, LV designer Marc Jacobs raved about how happy he was with the upsurge in sales since they featured Madonna. Could this all possibly have to do with what some bloggers have termed the "battle of the boy toys"?
Apparently Madonna wanted LV to use her boyfriend, 22 year old Jesus Luz as the male face of Louis Vuitton. Instead they chose Hale Berry's younger husband,Gabriel Aubry.
Lara Stone is the model who looks amazingly like young Bridgitte Bardot and is the hot new rising modelling star. Her gap toothed smile is very Lauren Hudson.
" designers see in her a refreshing aesthetic shift away from the prepubescent boy figure that has lately dominated fashion. Bruce Weber, who has worked with Stone several times since her Givenchy re-debut, says, "To me, Lara is part Marlon Brando, part Thelonious Monk and part Robert Mitchum. She's big, bad and beautiful." (WMagazine)
From Wall Street to the runway, Canadian born Jay Godfrey has taken his keen business sense and applied it to his dream of becoming a fashion designer. A celebrity favorite, Godfrey has attained that elusive fashion success and recognition, which is no small feat in the overcrowded design field.
Godfrey fell in love with fashion while working in his first summer job at Hugo Boss. But life pulled him away. He went on to study finance at Montreal's McGill University and went to work on Wall Street. He didn't let the numbers drag him down though and he used his money to take him through Parson's School of Design to study fashion design.
Jay Godfrey has turned from a business man to one of the hottest designers in Hollywood thanks to a number of celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian just to name few, wearing his designs. Canada Style asked Godfrey to describe the woman who wears his clothes. He said:
"Strong, self-assured, and above all, comfortable in her own skin. She has her own unique sense of style and is not a slave to trends. She knows what works for her and dresses to flatter her figure while having fun with fashion."
Jay Godfrey's Spring 2010 collection is simple, yet bold and colourful. He describes it as "the confluence of lingerie and activewear; boudoir meets athletic club. Suggestively alluring, yet fittingly appropriate."
Sounds good. Toronto Life said this about the collection:
Godfrey's flirty creations are better tailored to today's party-happy tabloid princesses (think Us magazine, not Vogue). They're foxy (but not trashy), flashy (but not arresting enough to upstage their wearer) and risk-free (safe from any worst-dressed lists).
With a reputation for designing the dresses that every young celebrity must own his line will be one to watch as he fulfills the rest of his dreams. Godfrey told Canada Style where he sees himself in 5 years from now:
"In five years I would love to have at least one of my own stores in New York, and hopefully other locations as well. Having a line of accessories to compliment the collection is also a major goal of mine. Shoes and jewelry are two categories I would particularly love to branch out into because there is so much possibility there to really craft a complete 'Jay Godfrey' look from head to toe."
Smart move Jay. Michael Kors has pioneered the concept very successfully and has brought the idea of mixing high fashion and affordable looks under the same roof thus creating a devoted brand shopper. Jay Godfrey is definitely a man to watch and we are looking forward to seeing his boutiques. Here are some looks from his spring collection:

Red has replaced purple as an accent color for this fall/winter season. The fastest way to update your wardrobe is to invest in a statement piece or hot accessory. It will also give you that instant splash of colour to brighten up a mostly black or gray color palette this season.
A knock out red dress is a good choice for the holiday season. Wear with bold shiny jewelry. Pair a red cardigan or leather jacket with black or gray tone on tone pants/turtleneck or dress. Don't mix colors.
Accessories are of course the fastest way to add color and will be most cost efficient as well. Invest in good quality here as the colour will attract attention to your piece. Pair a soft pair of leather gloves with a red scarf or belt. No need to match the red purse to the shoes though. Again remember you are going for accent pieces, keep it simple, don't mix any other color and wear it with a red hot attitude for maximum impact!

Canadian actress Shenae Grimes has taken her character Annie Wilson on 90210 to heart. She really is the little girl who moved to a new flashy town to make it her own. Now instead of the cold winters of Toronto, she is rocking it on the red carpet.
Shenae Grimes showed off her stuff on the red carpet at the 16th Annual Elle Women in Hollywood Tribute. She must read Canada Style Blog, because she paired her simple black tunic with those animal print ankle boots perfectly to make a statement without over doing it. With very few accessories you can get this look easily and turn head as you march down a red carpet of your own.

Canadian Fashion Magazine, Flare has scored an interview and a pictorial with Lady Gaga. In the magazine Lady Gaga talks about her fashion inspiration, her ideal vision of beauty and how fashion saved her life. Flare also asked Lady GAGA if she was looking to launch her own line. Her response was interesting:
"At some point, I will. Right now, I'm more concerned with using my fame to promote young designers such as Gary Card, an artist who designed a piece I used on stage." She thinks her public wants her to do one because "There hasn't been a commercial artist lately that has embodied avant-garde and couture so insistently as myself."
If by couture Lady Gaga means the Fashion Couture of Chanel, Dior, Yves St.Laurent, then her outfits are not couture. Fashion as high entertainment a la Alexander McQueen and yes it can be called avant garde in a sense, then YES. Lady Gaga is one of the more origional entertainers to come along in years. Where would KISS be without the get up and the makeup? Her sometimes comical, sometimes bizarre and always creative look is as much a part of her act as is her singing. It's fun.
Growing up in Winnipeg, Canada, Mark Fast probably never realized that he would spark controversy across the fashion world before his 30th birthday. That's just what this Canadian born fashion designer did at London Fashion Week, when he put plus-sized models in his sexy, revealing runway show. This fashion show which made headlines all over the world, helped to not only put Mark Fast on the international up and coming fashion designer fast track, it is also helping to usher in a sea of change surrounding the ongoing controversy about the perception of beauty and size in the fashion industry.
Mark Fast grew up in the peaceful prairies, but moved to London to study at Central Saint Matrins completing his MA in 2008. To create his startling knitwear Fast uses a knitting machine and works onto the body giving it that shape hugging form. His yarn and the curves of the body inspire him as he forms each piece.
For his most recent collection Mark Fast collaborated with Swarovski for materials and Christian Louboutin for shoes. He found inspiration in silent films and strong female characters such as Erin Brockovich. Mark Fast said that: The S/S 10 catwalk show will focus on women's courage in modern society as a medium.
The fashion designer also gave courage to the plus-sized models he invited to join him on the runway scoring him points with regular buyers, but none was shown in the fashion world when his freelance stylist and casting director quit, allegedly because the models weren't ready for the runway as opposed to their size. Just recently in an indepth article on the changing perception of beauty and size, The Guardian in London gave Mark Fast a great deal of credit in helping to usher in the changes to the zero size models:
"The pictures of Morley in Mark Fast's sexy cobweb dresses - with Gwyneth Harrison and Laura Catterall - made front-page news around the world. "I was shocked by the coverage. I had no idea it would be such a big deal. I was just doing my job."
But Morley's job description is changing. She has become part of a sea change that has swept across the fashion industry in the past month. Suddenly women who don't look emaciated - or even svelte - are part of fashion's story. For anyone sick of seeing dangerously underweight adolescents dominate the style landscape (and who isn't?), this was what they call in the trade "a moment". For some of us, it feels like a cultural turning point, long overdue.".............
Mark Fast was able to include girls with different figures because he shows knitwear: it's stretchy. He is keen to play down the politics of his move, not wanting to irritate other designers. "I wasn't trying to make a huge statement," he says, "Like, 'Look, you're not doing it right.' I just thought it was time: I see so many beautiful women out there and I just want to put them on the catwalk. I think attitudes are changing. There is something in the air. Some people are picking up on it. Others... not so quickly."
Fast has shown that any woman can own a Mark Fast knit and incorporate it into her wardrobe widening his appeal.
"My knits respond differently to different bodies," he said. "Some looks just work better on curves in the same way that certain tailoring works better on different body types." (Toronto Star)
Mark Fast says that in his fashion he wants to celebrate all women. His intricate, sexy clothing proves that he is honouring a women's body and her curves regardless of her size. His S/S 2010 collection features skirts and dresses with carefully placed fabric to cover the more private areas in mostly muted tones of tan, black and grey. The fringed tops and skirts sway over the models form. Very few pieces leave much to the imagination.
His Body Con collection of skintight, hole-filled knit dresses showed a daring designer style -- especially when worn by models that can fill out an outfit. There is no doubt that Mr. Fast's knits left little to the imagination, other than to marvel at the way the designer created a lush feminine feel with so little fabric. (New York Times)
